A few pictures from the beautiful small harbour and its surroundings in Hersonissos, Crete!
Already during Minoan times 4000 years ago there was a harbour in Hersonissos.
This first picture is taken outside of the small Agia Paraskevi (Saint Friday) church.
It's mostly fishermen's boats here, but also quite many tour boats for tourists. It's common to go to the island Dia and to the small village Sissi from here.
The small Agia Paraskevi church which is built in the cliff. At Easter the resurrection worship is held here and it's a beautiful event with all the people holding a candle in their hands. There are also fireworks over the sea...
The last two photos are taken from the Kastri cliff, up behind the church.
At the top of the cliff are the remains of an old Christian basilica.
One thousand five hundred years ago it was one of the largest churches on Crete.
