Matala beach and village, south Crete

We went to Matala on the south
coast of Crete for swimming one day this summer!

This beautiful small village is mostly famous for the caves in the cliff where hippies used to live. The last years they're arranging a big hippie festival in the beginning of June.

A lovely beach for sunbathing! Watch out for a quite big, flat, slippery cliff under the water though... (can be seen on this picture).

It's a really small village, so if you come by car make sure you park at the parking places before you enter the village, as it's a popular place in the summer!
At this camping I was staying with my friends Pia, Eva and Karin for a few days many, many years ago!
