Helen Kapalos - successful Greek TV personality in Australia!

Ελένη Κάπαλος (Eleni Kapalos) or Helen Kapalos is a very popular TV presenter in Australia. Warm personality, thrustworthiness and simplicity are characteristics of Helen which has made her to one of the most popular persons in the country of cangaroos and koalas.

Helen who is just over 40 had been working as the evening news reader for Channel 10 in Melbourne for 7 years, when they decided to not renew the contract with her in the end of 2012.

Ms Kapalos was not happy about this of course, but "κάθε εμπόδιο για καλό" - every obstacle is an opportunity: Helen Kapalos has now signed a contract with the most popular TV channel in Australia, Seven Network (Channel 7), as a presenter of the "current affairs" program Today Tonight, a program with very high viewing figures. Congratulations Helen!

Eleni Kapalos was born in Newcastle, Australia 1971 by Greek parents. She spoke Greek only, until she started school.

Her Greek origin and close relationship with the Greek Diaspora of Australia was considered like an extra plus (About 400.000 Greeks are living in the country) by Channel 7 who also said they are very proud of their new cooperation with one of the best journalists and TV presenters of Australia - αυτό θα έλειπε!!!

In the Olympic games in Athens 2004 Kapalos had an important role in the coverage from the capital of Greece.

Helen Kapalos is divorced since some years and doesn't have any children yet. She writes about this in her blog: "Single, childless and not getting any younger. Take a chill pill."

Best wishes for a great year to Helen, and everybody else!

What part of Greece is Helen Kapalos Parents from?

Hi Anonymous! I was trying to find out myself when writing this post, but I think Helen is trying to keep it secret as her father moved back to his village, after Helens mother died many years ago, and Helen is visiting her father every year.
