Greek/American Alexander Payne wins his 2nd Oscar(Academy Award)

Read this post in Swedish: Grek-amerikanen Alexander Payne vinner sin andra Oscar!

The Greek/American filmdirector/screenwriter Alexander Payne got the Oscar for "Best Adapted Screenplay" for the film "The Descendants".

Alexander Payne is of Greek origin. His grandparents were immigrants to the U.S from Achaea, Peloponnese. His grandfather changed the Greek name Papadopoulos to Payne (unfortunately!).

Alexander dedicated his Oscar to his mother Peggy in his speech and said "Thankyou for letting me skip nursery school so we could go to the movies!" and he also said "Mom, Σ'αγαπώ". S'agapo is Greek meaning "I love you".

When he won his first Oscar 2005 in the same category for "Sideways" his mother made him promise to dedicate the Academy Award to her if he ever won an Oscar again...! (Clever Mom!).

Beautiful Angelina Jolie, in sexy dress by Versace, handing over the valuable statuette to Payne.

Trailer from the movie with George Clooney as main actor:

Congratulations & Celebrations, Alexander!
Best wishes for the future with love from Greece!
