The Shaw Prize in Mathematical Science to Demetrios Christodoulou

The Greek  Dimitris Christodoulou (also written Demetrios Christodoulou)got the Shaw Prize in Mathematical Science the other day, together with the American Richard Hamilton, for their innovative work in Lorentzian and Riemannian geometry and their applications to general relativity and topology.

The Shaw Prize, which also is given in Astronomy and Medicine, is a very important award in Mathematical Science. This price is of course of
great value to Professor Dimitris Christodoulou, especially as he got it together with his friend and colleague Richard Hamilton.

The Chinese Run Run Shaw is a very successful businessman in the film and TV industry. Shaw is now 103 years old!
The Shaw Prize has been given since 2004 and the winner of each field receives a check of one million dollar.

The Shaw Prize is handed over in Hong-Kong.
